The LBP Union Wiki
The LBP Union Wiki

Sorry to be clickbaity about the title, but this could be potentially disasterous for the archival initiative if action isn't taken.

Alder and I have discovered that LBP1 photos uploaded to my profile seem to have exactly HALF the resolution of LBP2 and LBP3 photos. We don't know for sure why. I recall that the photos didn't used to look that bad. I may be wrong, but my hypothesis is that the LBP website is deliberately reducing the resolution of older photos in order to save server space. If they can do this, then perhaps they will do it again with LBP2 photos in the future, or maybe delete swathes of photos entirely. The LBP website isn't going to be around forever either. We must take action to preserve relevant historical photos or they may be lost forever.

We need to mount an effort to archive as many pictures as we can that have been uploaded by clan members and leaders that might be useful. We can ignore irrelevant pictures that don't have to do with clanning, but we can save the ones that matter. The more people who agree to help with this the more pictures we can archive and preserve to make sure clanning history is preserved. I get it if you don't give a damn, but some people do. If you'd like to help the archival initiative, even a little, please follow these instructions,

  1. Upload any pictures you have that might be relevant to clanning or your own history on LBP to LBP.me. You do this by going into your popit, selecting the photo by hitting square, and then hitting "upload" while online. This will upload the photo to the LBP.me website.
  2. Download the photos you uploaded, and download all relevant photos that you have uploaded in the past.
  3. If you feel up to it, please download relevant photos from other creators on LBP.me. This is very important part because there are a lot of clanners and a lot of photos to weed through.
  4. Package your archived photos into a .zip, .rar or other compression method.
  5. Send them to my discord at M88youngling#3339 or alternatively, upload them to a file sharing service like Mediafire and post the link to your zipped files on the wiki as a discussion post or as a comment replying to this blog post.

This is our only chance at preserving photos from clanning history, and we won't have forever to pull it off. I need as much help as I can get, because I don't have enough time to do it all myself. I'll pull my fair share, but I really need the extra help to pull this off. We need to preserve the visual aspects of clanning, the things most of us cared about the most: our creations.
